The Joy River Band was formed in 2014 and was originally three high school friends with three guitars who shared a love of bluegrass music and the Lord. Since then the Lord has blessed and grown the original little band to what it is today.
Two of the three original members are still with the band: Dylan Presson is on banjo, guitar and vocals and Tristan Campbell plays lead guitar and fiddle. The “momma” of the band, Dorothy Campbell plays the bass fiddle and vocals. She has been with the band since 2015. The band has added two additional members: Jon Crouch, who sings lead and plays mandolin and guitar and Derrick Moore, who also sings lead, as well as playing rhythm guitar.
In addition to performing traditional bluegrass favorites, the Joy River Band also performs many of its own originals. The band members reside in southeastern Indiana, in the towns of Liberty and Connersville.
The band hosts a monthly bluegrass show called “The Fayette County Line Show on local TV3 in Connersville, Indiana. In 2017-18, the band also perfomed as the house band for the Connersville Bluegrass Jamboree.
The Joy River Band is looking forward to the release of its first CD during the summer, 2019.
